医者になりたいと強く思っていました。医者になりたいと強く思っていました。 : 予備校ではがむしゃらに勉強しました : 一番自分が入りたい学校の医学部に合格中学生のころから、医者になりたいと強く思っていました。そのため、自分なりに必死で勉強をしていたのですが、結局現役合格をすることができませんでした。このままではいけないと思ったので、思い切って東京に医学部向けの予備校に通うことを決意しました。最初は、1人暮らしをして通うつもりだったのですが、1人暮らしは正直不安でした。慣れない東京で一人で暮らしながら勉強ができるのか、という不安もありましたし、せっかくなら寮があるところに通おうと思いました。予備校で環境の良いところに寮があるところは、それなりの実績があるという証拠になると聞いたこともあるので、私は寮がきちんと完備されているところを選びました。親元を離れて生活するのは人生で初めての経験でした。でも、本気で医者になりたいという夢があったのでそれほど寂しいとは感じませんでした。とにかく私は、なにがなんでも勉強をして成績をアップさせ、医学部に合格してやる、という強い気持ちをもっていました。医学部を目指して予備校に通うことに高校に入った頃は医学部に行きたいとは思っていたのですが、学力的に行けるかどうか微妙なところでした。医学部を目指す場合には一年生の頃から受験に向けて勉強をする必要があるわけですが、自分の場合には迷っていただけに入学していきなり受験に向けて勉強をするということはありせんでした。その代わり、自力で学力をアップすることができ可能性が見えてきたら本格的に医学部を目指そうということになったのです。その頃は塾には通っていましたが、特別受験を意識した勉強を教えてくれるわけではありませんでしたから、純粋に学校の成績を上げるためだけに通っていたような感じです。そこで、学年でせめてトップテンぐらいに入ることができなければ受験資格はないと自分なりに考えて、最初の一年はトップテン入りを目指して頑張ることにしたのです。入学したての頃は行けるものであれば、医学部に行きたいという気持ちだったのですが目標ができてからは、なんとしても行きたいと思うようになり必死で勉強をしたことで第一目標であった学年トップテンに食い込むことができました。これで自分なりに挑戦権を得た形となりましたから、二年生になってからは本格的に受験に挑むための対策を立てるために、それまで通っていた塾から受験対策までしてくれる予備校に移ることにしたのです。ようやくここからスタートラインに立つことができたという気持ちがあったのですが、その一方で不安もあって合格の可能性が出るレベルまで達することができるのだろうかと不安でした。不安はあったものの評判の良い予備校だったので、指導力が非常に高くて苦手な部分もしっかり克服をすることができ、得意分野は更に伸びることになったことでだんだんと自信がついてきました。学校の成績も更に伸びて上位三番目に入り込むようになったので、実力は確かについてきたのです。あとは本番でどれだけやることができるのかというところで、三年生の終わり頃には完全に仕上がっていました。最初受験するつもりだった大学も成績が伸びたことによって、ワンランク上の大学を選ぶことができるようになり高校に入学したての頃には考えられないぐらいに成長をしていたのですが、それでも本番直前は不安で仕方ありませんでした。余裕の合格というラインではなく、七割程度合格は見込めるだろうというレベルの成績でしたから逆にプレッシャーが強い状況となっていたのです。不合格だった場合には浪人をするかあるいは滑り止めで妥協をするのが良いのか、ネガティブなことばかり考えていました。なまじ確率としては合格をする可能性が高かっただけに、少ない目を引いたときのショックをできるだけ和らげようと、悪い方にばかり考えていたような気がします。ところがいざ本番になるとしっかりと問題を解くことができ、確かな手応えを感じるものでした。自己採点の結果としてもほぼ受かったであろうとは思っていましたが、さすがに結果が出るまでは多少不安がありました。そのため、合格発表の日に合格だとわかったときには嬉しいというよりも安堵感のほうが強くて、プレッシャーから解放されたという気持ちのほうが強かったです。嬉しいことは嬉しかったのですが、嬉しさがこみ上げてきたというのはそれからしばらく時間がたってのことでした。それよりも合格をしたということを予備校の先生に報告をしたところ、自分のことのように喜んでくれたのでそちらのほうが嬉しく感じました。医学部に合格をしたからゴールというわけではなく、ここからが本当のスタートということになるのでしょうが受験を乗り切るよりも大変なことはないでしょうから、このまま頑張っていきたいと思っています。
